Celebrating Bahamian Independence

When the call came with the invitation to attend the 2025 Bahamian Independence celebration at Sandals Royal Bahamian, of course I jumped at the chance. Sandals Royal Bahamian in Nassau was the very first Sandals resort that I had visited back in 2014, began my "addiction" to the brand and the all inclusive resort experience. I had been to the resort a few time since, and have always enjoyed the ease of getting there and the quick ability to get into relaxation mode.

But this was the first time back to the Bahamas since we moved to Eugene, OR. And my travel time went from 6 hours with connecting flights from Cleveland, to involving an overnight flight out of EUG and a connection. Would I be too exhausted to enjoy a short 4 night getaway? As my travel got a little more complicated due to an incorrect food cart situation for the first class passengers, requiring us to return to the gate and eliminating my connection time, I became more worried. Would I even make it? Thankfully the in flight wi-fi allowed me to easily change my connecting flight and I was able to arrive to the island only an hour off the original mark. Stepping out of the airport I instantly thought, "Ah... the Bahamas." Immediately I knew, yes, it was worth it!

Sandals Royal Bahamian is an adults only "luxury inclusive" resort. This property is compact, easy to navigate, and has not one but two stunning beaches - the resort sits on a white sandy stretch, and just a mile off shore is the resort's island, which boasts an even longer stretch of beach, one that has almost a "castaway" vibe. Conch is the quintessential Bahamian food, and there was no shortage of fritters and fresh conch salad, prepared right before your eyes. If you are looking for an authentic experience, that is one to not miss!

Many times when I travel, I spend part of the time in meetings and then touring the property and seeing various room categories. That experience allows me, as a Platinum Elite Certified Sandals Specialist, to bring you the most up to date information and recommendations for your desired experience! I was also very surprised to be acknowledged as the top achiever in sales to Sandals Royal Bahamian from the Midwest (where Canary Travel has its main headquarters).

The four nights on resort were packed with delicious food, fun times, and lots of dancing in the evening. As most of the other agents on resort had the shorter flight itineraries, many of them had mouths agape as I told of the length of my travel from Eugene. But honestly, it was absolutely 100% worth it to feel the Caribbean breezes and splash in the warm sea, and just unwind in a way that only an all inclusive property allows you to do.

I look forward to the next time back, as it truly is "better in the Bahamas"
